Complete refurbishment of an 850-liter filter dryer

For our pharmaceutical raw material manufacturing customer, we refurbished an 850-liter Schenk Hastelloy filter dryer, including the full control system. The equipment can now be used safely and reliably even in ATEX areas.

The filter dryer arrived safely from abroad, after which we dismantled it in our workshop in Debrecen for failure analysis and then performed the following tasks:

• Preparation of an electrical plan
• Display of the process on the HMI interface
• Replacement of all electrical equipment in accordance with current requirements due to use in an ATEX environment (electric motors, partitioning devices, instruments, protection systems, etc.)
• Renovation of double-locking mechanical seals
• Replacement of complete hydraulic system components (working cylinders, hydraulic pump, check valves, directional control valves, etc.)
• Manufacture of 20-micron multilayer filter element
• Replacement of Hastelloy shaft bellows
• Technological pipe installation
• FAT (functional testing in the workshop)

The filter dryer was installed at the end-user site, with the following subtasks:

• Crane and building construction work
• Correction of technological installations
• Control engineering and high-voltage work
• PLC programming
• Participation in IQ/OQ processes and preparation of related documentation
• Preparation of authority documentation for installation and commissioning
• Preparation of ATEX documentation and TMT certification for the entire equipment
• Performance of operational functional tests
